Get the Most Out of Your Skincare Routine

Whether we’re blending our favorite watermelon shake (a secret recipe for now, but we might drop it down the road) or ending the day with a nice cold shower and our Say Aloe! All Day Cream - Summer 2020 is all about staying chill. Chill, so you can enjoy as many socially-distanced beach days as possible before the first fall leaves start to show.

This summer self-care routine definitely includes a special focus on skincare. After all, sunburn, skin inflammation, and clogged pores are all issues that can throw a wrench in summer fun. This is doubly true if your skin is already sensitive, as many of us.

Whether you’re a fitness buff, beach bum, or foodie looking forward to some outdoor dining, you want skincare products that will work as hard as you play. With natural ingredients like exfoliating algae, anti-aging rosehip oil, and calming aloe, our line of soothing and long-lasting skincare products are perfect for your post-sun ritual.

If trying a new product isn’t where you’d like to end your skincare journey, we have a few more tricks to make your warm-weather skincare goals a reality. If you’re interested in getting the best skincare results possible, read below for a few of our favorite ways to get the most out of your skincare routine.

A Blank Canvas

Whether you’re shaving your legs or trying to avoid shy skin, gently exfoliating is already a summer skincare staple. Still, not everyone knows that exfoliating your face can help you get the most out of your skincare routine. Pesky layers of dry skin might prevent skincare products from absorbing into your skin. To prevent this, we suggest gently exfoliating once or twice per week with a chemical exfoliant.  skincare includes natural exfoliants that soften skin and ensure that you get the most out of every product.

Follow the Leader

With all those handy samples from Sephora and Lush, you probably have a collection of skincare products rivaling any home spa. Don’t try to flex just yet, though. Applying your products in the right order is almost as important as the products included in your skincare routine. To get the most from your skincare regimen, apply products in order of consistency, with watery products (toners, serums, and treatments) first and thicker creams/oils towards the end.

The Layered Look:

Even if you make sure to apply a product at the right step in your skincare routine, some products still need an extra boost. Just like autumn fashion, your skincare routine could definitely benefit from a little layering. While our buttery Say Aloe! All Day Cream can skip this step, watery toners and serums sometimes need 2-3 layers to have an impact. Simply apply the product, pat until dry, and repeat twice more before moving onto the next skincare step.

Pat, Pat, Pat:

Don’t let your products escape your skin! Always make sure to pat your product 100% dry before heading to bed or out into the world, to make sure the powerful ingredients aren’t lost to the air or the pillows on your bed. Rubbing your products can be irritating for skin, so patting your face dry with your fingers is usually the way to go.
